I knew this would be an amazing trip but I was not expecting to meet so many amazing people or to have a nonstop smile on my face for 25 straight days. This trip has been such an amazing experience. This was Zoe's second trip with Westcoast Connection / 360° Student Travel. Last year she had "the best summer of her life". She chose the community service trip this summer and was a little nervous that it would not meet up to the beyond exceptional trip last year but she has not stopped talking about how this trip surpassed her expectation and had yet another "best summer of her life". She is already talking and thinking about what next summer's Westcoast Connection / 360° Student Travel plans will be. Thank you all for an amazing summer. Jonah loved every minute of his trip. I was absolutely amazed by the incredible activities you provided, the wonderful places they saw, and how you fostered an environment of inclusion for everyone. Every time I would hear from my son it would be, "this is the best day of my life" or "this is the most amazing thing I've ever done". His experience with Westcoast Connection was just pure joy. He always talked about the amazing staff as a big part of what made the trip so great. He has made a lot of great new friends. From a parent's perspective, the trip was extremely well organized, the communication was quick and informative, and the level of supervision was completely appropriate. From my son's perspective, the activities were exciting and fun, the Westcoast Connection staff were great, and the group of kids really bonded and formed lasting relationships with no exclusions. On Westcoast Connection / 360° Student Travel, you travel to a new place with unfamiliar cultures, unfamiliar people and different values. But you leave with an appreciation for those cultures, new lifelong friendships and a better sense of who you are and who you want to be. I loved working at the Humanitarian Foundation because it felt good that we could help kids and their families by simply playing with them or cementing a floor. Also, it’s not every day that you come across a woman as inspiring as Gail. I've always heard how even the smallest charity can make a different in someone’s life, but now I really feel it. Also, I feel how it benefits me in return. I wouldn’t change that experience, and I leave Costa Rica heavy hearted. Gabby Rappaport
My summer was incredible! I had high expectations coming into this trip after hearing all about the trips my friends went on but the trip was still better than expected. This trip has really made me appreciate everything I have back at home and has made me so much more grateful for my quality of life. She enjoyed the museums and points of tourist interest (big congrats for that!) as much as the flamenco dancing, indoor skiing and other activities, gaining valuable experience from it all. Jackie had the summer of her life. She made some really good friends, saw very interesting things, and improved her French. It certainly was a good way for her to take some responsibilities in a structured environment. Jason had a fabulous experience and I tip my hat off to you all. There is something about your trips that makes every camper feel at home. Our interests are always being taken into consideration. I came in knowing that I would be helping the community but I've learned so much about myself and how much I can do to help, and I've met people that have changed my life. The counselors and activities were great. The tour leaders were all fun and understanding! Lindsay is honestly the best tour director, she was understanding and hilarious! This was the best summer, and I wouldn’t change a thing! Alli the tour director was well organized and displayed good leadership qualities. The tour director Alli was able to achieve the balance between friend and authoritative figure. This was an amazing summer. I don’t know how to thank my tour director for making my summer amazing. Stephanie is having a blast. We were with our daughter for a few hours in Vegas, and met the group to bring her back. I had so many hugs from her friends, they are truly a bunch of great kids; they are wonderful. She told me, Dad, this trip is amazing, everyone is friends with everyone and we all get along. Her next dream is to work for you guys!!! You guys are a class above the rest, thanks for the communication. Theo spoke enthusiastically about his trip for days afterward. The tour leaders did a great job taking care of the campers and were very approachable and helpful. The trip was overall amazing. Whitney was an incredible leader, person and role model. I couldn’t have asked for better. Whitney was not only an incredible tour director, but she also became a friend to talk to. Callie loves her trip! She says the staff is great, kids are great, & has informed us that the last day of her trip will be the saddest day of her life and that she never wants to come home. She can’t even think about it. Great job again. Steve and the staff were amazing and should know that their involvement really made the experience such a positive one for Rachel. Their support and organizational skills are superb. You should all be commended for the exceptional work done! Our tour director Whitney did an amazing job. She was fun to be with and I also had confidence in being with her in a foreign country. This was Michael’s third trip with WCC. The supervision, medical care, and general organization are consistently beyond reproach. The itineraries are varied, interesting and fun and my son has always connected with the other kids. The best summer of my life! This trip made my summer unforgettable! I then sent my son Craig 3 summers ago and he had an amazing time. Now this summer my son Lawrie went. He so desperately wanted to take his cell phone with a special package so he could call often. I agreed not willingly. I thought something was wrong with the phone. 3-4-5-6 days would go by and no phone calls. He was just to busy and having to great a time to tear himself away for even a few minutes. The new friendships that he made will last a lifetime as have mine over 25 years ago when I did this trip. The staff members were exceptional and he still is in contact with a few of them. Thank you again to everyone at Westcoast for making this such a wonderful loving warm experience. Sydney Oberfeld I was a little nervous in the beginning however, the staff made me fell so comfortable that I can safely say on my 38th day I was prepared to stay another 40 days. I didn’t ever want this trip to end! This trip was awesome! Greatest summer of my life. I matured so much and had so many amazing experiences with all the new friends I made. Ben had a wonderful experience. Michael had a great trip! He spoke very highly of the trip director and counselors. I am very pleased he had such a great experience. Henry had a great experience and was able to speak in Spanish ordering in restaurants and showed us around the city with confidence and pride when we visited. The whole experience was very positive for him and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others. This was my first Westcoast trip and I was truly impressed with how much everything was geared toward us…I felt understood as a teen, as an individual and as part of a group. Surfing in San Diego was unbelievable. I've never had more excitement & fun. I will always remember the day I learned to surf with my American Voyageur Trip family. Brittany had a wonderful summer. She was exposed to many new and exciting experiences, and made many new friends. She had much praise for the staff, all of whom were terrific, especially, Sascha. I would definitely consider sending her on another Westcoast Connection program! This trip was the greatest experience ever and I'm so happy I chose this trip. I would absolutely do it again and recommend it. My favorite community service project was working at Hacienda. I really liked it because we got the chance to create a really special bond with the patients. Everything provided by 360 Student Travel was amazing! The activities were exhilarating, the service was rewarding and the language component was extremely helpful. The restaurants where we ate were great and there was always enough food. I loved rappelling. The bus and the bus drivers were great. Language classes were educational and fun. The service projects were very rewarding. The language component outside of class made my Spanish improve so much. It was really helpful to communicate with the local people, too. I learned things that will stay with me forever and made friends that will always be there for me, even though we will be far away from each other. We have now sent 2 very different children on 2 very different trips with Westcoast and both have had wonderful experiences and both have come home safe and sound with fabulous memories. Thank you! Coming from a summer camp I had been to for 7 years, I was nervous for the trip. But the people, and the staff especially, allowed me to have such a good time. I honestly had nothing to worry about and I'm going to miss everyone so much. I loved working at the orphanage because I really could feel the difference that we made in the lives of the children. I also liked the Amazon because we got to see exactly where our work was going and we had alot of fun. I have become much more grateful for everything I have been given. Working in La Carpio was my favorite project because I got to see the change that I made in the children's lives. Gail from the Humanitarian Foundation really made a difference in my mind. I never realized how lucky I actually am. I appreciate the things that I have. The balance worked out really well, there was enough of both service and adventure & fun. I loved the service project painting the mural, it was amazing and so rewarding. The trip opened my eyes to a new world. It was perfect! I found the entire experience to be amazing for the Sammi & David. I found their leaders to be very involved and innovative in getting the kids to embrace the project. The group in general worked in a cohesive manner to get the job done. I highly commend both Meredith and Nick for a job well done. It was clear to me that this group was united in all that they did. This trip was honestly the best thing ever. Together we have created memories that will be engraved in my heart forever! We started off this trip as 45 individuals and it's amazing how we quickly became one big family. Our Director Sascha went above and beyond. This was honestly an experience of a lifetime. I felt really good after working at Animal Care. From this program, I realized how lucky I am with what I have. I realized that volunteering is something that everyone should do. This was an outstanding summer in all aspects. Habitat for Humanity was definitely my favorite project. At the end of the day our contribution was visible, and the people we met were amazing. This program has made me more comfortable with meeting new people. Our leaders Julie, Mary and Vince were all awesome. I have sent two daughters for a total of 5 trips with Westcoast. I have spent over 25 years in this industry, ending my career as a director of a summer camp. Each experience with Westcoast has impressed me with your expertise, growth and development in providing such a wonderful experience for my daughters over the last 5 years. You have not rested on your laurels and keep refining a wonderful product while retaining excellent staff and providing first and foremost a safe environment as well as a tremendous learning experience for the participants. Congratulations to the whole Westcoast family. Our daughter Ali had a wonderful time. She came home with wonderful stories, new friends and great memories. Thank you for her wonderful experience.
